I have recently been exploring the Electron platform.Electron is used for developing cross-platform desktop apps with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. The benefit of using electron is that all users can use it no matter their operating system. 

It can frequently be expensive to build a desktop application, and it would then cost double to transfer that application over to a different operating system.
