Organization in which I work has some application systems which were developed in PowerBuilder5 and Oracle 8i like Receipt/Dispatch System, Management Information System for Assessment/Check post/SIB/Collection/PINS/Judiciary. Data of all these are managed in Oracle 8i. Being the IT personnel my duties are: Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools, Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system, Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers verbally, Enrolling users and maintaining system security, Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement, Controlling and monitoring user access to the database, Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database, Planning for backup and recovery of database information, Maintaining archived data in CDs, Backing up in tape drive and CDs and restoring databases, Contacting database vendor for technical support, Generating various reports by querying from database as per need. But later these applications are discontinued and new applications are developed in Asp.net and sql-server 2008, which gives me opportunity to manage all above duties in sql-server 2008.
