Corrections for grammatical errors, including punctuation, capitalization, verb tense, spelling and sentence structure; notes for revisions; formatting; documents submitted in ONE of the following formats: Word document (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text File (.rtf)
4. BASIC EDIT
- Basic copy edit
- Review text, correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Read entire manuscript and check for consistency, redundancy, flow, transition, and proper use of words
- Ensure proper tense and tone are maintained throughout the book
- Provide suggestions or copywriting to transition from one thought to the next smoothly
- May fact check statistics and sources within the book for accuracy for an extra fee
- Eliminate confusion, provide clarity, and make sure the author doesn’t lose reader interest
- Maintain author’s style and tone
- Polish manuscript and improve final copy
5. DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
Aids in writing Can begin the outline Includes entire development and organization of the book Involves characters, storyline, and pace
Aids in chapters presentation, overall content, flow, and arrangement of text It may be added with credit for a cost reduction
6. SUBSTANTIVE EDITING
Heavy or Substantive Edit
Line-by-line editorial with a draft and final review.
Involves checks for:
- Grammar
- Punctuation
- Sentence structure for readability
- Dialogue and characterization
- Analysis of flow and plot consistency
- May include suggestions for rewrites within comment boxes
Guidelines:
Half payment is due at onset and a half at completion; for larger projects, cost may be divided into three installments:
- Charge-back retainer (onset)
- Draft review
- Final
The final copy is delivered only in PDF with a watermark until the final payment clears - then the workable document is released
A timeline with milestones is developed - where it makes sense - no need to create extra work for no reason
Manuscripts need to be double-spaced, 8.5 X 11 format with 1-inch margins
Author name, address, email, website (if any), along with the title, total word count, and pseudonym (if any) need to be included on the cover page
Rates are negotiable where required and can convey to hourly or by page depending upon the project
