I have over 20 years of experience designing electronics. I started out as an electronics technician and gained valuable experience in troubleshooting, soldering, and design as I helped to improve or create test fixtures and procedures. I trained other technicians on testing and troubleshooting. I assisted senior engineers with constructing and building prototypes and verifying PCB layouts by manually checking prints in reference to the netlist and bill of materials. I was then given the opportunity to learn PCB design using Protel which took on with much enthusiasm. I quickly became proficient and was allowed to switch to PCB design full time. A few years later I learned to use Orcad on my own and completed a design within three weeks. I have designed single, double, four and six layer boards. All of the PCB's I've designed in the past several years have worked correctly with the first revision due to my careful attention to detail. Throughout my career I have been involved with circuit design, working with resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors, op amps, linear voltage regulators, switching voltage regulators, relays, switches, connectors, LED’s, LCD’s, photo diodes, logic gates, counters, ASIC’s, transformers, microcontrollers, oscillators, crystals, RS-232 level translators, RS-485 transceivers, USB interfaces, Ethernet interfaces, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, ADC, DAC, I2S, and batteries. The types of circuits I have designed include infrared sensors, infrared emitter drivers, infrared repeaters, LED drivers, volume controls, audio amplifiers, video amplifiers, audio selectors, video selectors, and keypads. I have done assembly language programming for PIC microcontrollers, mostly for test fixtures, but also for one product, which was a challenging and exciting experience for me. I have a very hands-on approach to product development and I enjoy exploring new technologies.
