In 2019, 1 in 8 people, or 970 million people worldwide, had a mental disorder, and anxiety and depression were the two most common forms of these disorders (1). As for the year 2020, it witnessed a significant increase in the number of people suffering from anxiety and depression disorders due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as preliminary estimates showed an increase in anxiety disorders by 26% and major depressive disorders by 28% in just one year (2). Despite effective prevention and treatment options, most people with mental disorders do not have access to effective care, and many suffer from stigma, discrimination and human rights violations.
