Rust/Python/Java/+ Software Development

$60/hr Starting at $180

I can do many sorts of software engineering and development. My primary areas of expertise are Rust and Python, and backend development. I also have extensive experience in Java, and have touched many more technologies beyond those.

I can develop Rust code idiomatically and efficiently, quickly orient myself to Rust code bases, and advise others on design decisions for Rust code. I have actively practiced the Rust language since 2017. I have used it for almost all of my personal projects since mid 2017, and have also used it in professional contexts. I have designed and led a series of in-house Rust language training sessions for a software engineering corporation at which I worked. I have published a handful of Rust crates, which you can see at https://crates.io/users/gretchenfrage. I am a somewhat active user on the Rust user forums.

I have comparable abilities in writing Python code idiomatically and efficiently. I have spent significant amounts of time focused on writing Python code in some for or another since 2014, and I have spent over 2 years employed full-time in which my primary language of development was Python.

I have comparable abilities in writing Java code idiomatically and efficiently. There have been several years in which I've spent significant amounts of my time developing Java code, both for my personal projects and professionally.

In addition to these languages which I consider myself most proficient in, I have also worked with a variety of other languages in some noteworthy capacity before, including Scala, C, Bash, Lua, JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, and HTML/CSS, as well as too many technologies and libraries to enumerate.
