UPDATE June 27, 2024: Freelancers from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, Canada, and the UK can now also withdraw funds from their Guru Cash Account to a Non-U.S. Bank Account. (Freelancers from additional countries will be able to add a non-U.S. bank account over the next several months.) This is an excellent fund withdrawal option for those freelancers who previously used Payoneer or who prefer withdrawing funds to a non-U.S. bank account. Learn how to set up a Non-U.S. Bank Account for withdrawals now.
***********
Starting September 28, 2023, freelancers no longer will be able to set up Payoneer as a method to withdraw funds on Guru. Additionally, starting October 5, 2023, freelancers no longer will be able to withdraw funds from Guru using Payoneer.
Guru guarantees that all Payoneer withdrawal requests made before October 5, 2023, will be processed and completed.
We understand that many freelancers currently use Payoneer to withdraw earnings on our platform, and we want to ensure a smooth transition. We are currently looking for alternative payment methods to provide you with convenience, security, and flexibility for fund withdrawals. We will provide detailed information about the new option once it is available.
How can you withdraw funds starting October 5, 2023?
Freelancers can withdraw funds from Guru using PayPal, wire transfer, or a U.S. bank account.
Learn how to set up a new fund withdrawal method now.
We apologize for the inconvenience of this change. If you need help setting up a new fund withdrawal method or have questions, please contact our support team.

Not a good decision. It was a very convenient for other people like me in this region where PayPal is not available.
Wire transfer fee and local bank charges also cost way higher than getting the money through Payoneer. Very sad to see this. I strongly suggest that Guru should continue this payment withdrawal method to provide ease of work to its Gurus. Wise could also be an option. But preference would be of Payoneer. Please see what you can do best for us.
Thanks!
Thank you for your comment, Noman. We’re truly sorry that we had to remove Payoneer as a withdrawal option from Guru. We understand that this has negatively impacted some Guru Freelancers, and we are currently working on a new, alternative fund withdrawal option to replace Payoneer. We will notify Freelancers of this new option as soon as it is available.
Bad news, by the way 🙁
You had to set at least one easy withdrawal option before disconnecting with Payoneer. My funds are stuck 🙁

Good discussion from the entire team of Guru. The reason why I am saying this is because Payoneer charged me an annual fee of 35$ from one of my Guru transactions without my prior notice which is unacceptable from the freelancer’s point of view.
Sorry to hear about it.
Unfortunately, in some countries, such as Ukraine, Georgia Country, and Pakistan, PayPal doesn’t work to withdraw funds for marketplaces. So dozens of thousands of freelancers will likely forced to use Wire Transfer which is very expensive and slow. It will definitely badly affect their businesses or in some cases, they probably will be unable to work on Guru.

Hi,
As an Alternative of Payoneer, my first choice will be Wise/Transfer wise.
Their service is top one and customer service is great.

Is it possible to use mastercard instead of payoneer from 5th October, 2023?
Currently, you can opt to withdraw funds via: U.S. Bank Account (eCheck), PayPal, or Wire Transfer. We’re working hard to find a replacement for Payoneer, and we will alert Freelancers as soon as it’s available.
I don’t think there’s any other replacement for Payoneer. Payoneer is a worldwide supported payment method. Freelancers from outside the US and where they don’t have PayPal having issues withdrawing their funds. Their funds are kind of stuck in the platform. I think you should reconsider adding Payoneer back.
Thank you for your comment, Erik. Unfortunately, Payoneer recently implemented new screening and compliance processes with its partners which are not feasible for the Guru.com platform. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and other Freelancers.

I am falling on a big trouble, It’s really sad news for me, I am from Bangladesh & I have good position on Guru Platform, Only Payoneer method available on my country, No PayPal/wire transfer/U.S. bank account available in my country, So I using this method since 2016 from Guru to Payoneer. If now it’s no more available I am falling on a big trouble, I don’t know how can I transfer my money to my country, Is there any way to send us my fund directly from guru to our country Local bank? Upwork & many others marketplace has this option to transfer fund directly to our country Local bank, If GURU also make this easy transfer process for us we can get more successful career on Guru. I hope Guru will find out good solutions for us, Thanks.

You should have at least sent an email letting us know about this change. I just saw it and I am about to receive payment today or tomorrow and the only way I can withdraw it is via Payoneer. This is absolutely not fair. You should have warned us in advance, at least several months in advance, by letting us know with just one quick email.
What should I do know when I receive payment today or tomorrow for the project I am working on? My money will stay stuck at Guru. But I guess you absolutely don’t care because if you did caree you would have sent en email and let us have several months to conclude our projects and find other ways, other platforms to work on.

It is really very sad to know that we(freelancers from Pakistan) are totally helpless regarding our payment withdrawals.
Guru.com should have provided prior notice at least a month before making this decision!
We do not have Paypal in Pakistan & I do not know how to use wire transfers, can anybody from Pakistan, be kind enough to guide me?
Guru.com has been a very legitimate and freelancer-friendly site so far, and I hope it will find a good solution for us as its credibility for the freelancers is also at stake.

Very bad decision simply for Guru’s convenience to leave thousands of users who are the ones who keep the platform afloat without one of the payment methods without prior notice, which in many places is the only way to withdraw their money. disappointed with the little importance and attention that Guru gives to us users.

NOT A GOOD DECISION.
Here in pakistan Paypal is not available , The only option was Payoneer that was more smooth for pakistani freelancers you CLOSED IT and it’s not Good.
Now we’re STUCK in payments issues.
ALL OTHER OPTIONS ARE VERY COSTLY AND WE LOST 30% OF OUR EARNING WHILE WITHDRAWING WITH THAT METHODS.
IT SHOULD BE REVERTED AND PAYONEER SHOULD BE AN OPTION ALWAYS.

I honestly couldn’t believe that ya’ll just did that! Payoneer was the only reason for me to join guru.com; given that, other payment options are not available in my country. Not only was I forced to leave Guru, but I also couldn’t even withdraw my earnings as I did!

We are Bangladeshi freelancer are still on a big trouble to received payment from Guru clients, Can you please choice a good transfer method to transfer our dollar to Bangladeshi local bank? If Guru accept Master Card for withdrew transfer or Direct transfer fund to Local Bank our dollars that would be great for us, because our country don’t have PayPal, Wise, Wire Transfer or US bank account facilities. I hope Guru will also consider for freelancer from Bangladesh.

What exactly was the main reason why Payoneer was removed? I think freelancers deserve to know this information as it will help us to better understand why you have to take the harsh decision.
Payooner was the most convenient, fast, and cheapest means of withdrawal. For some time I rethought working on Guru after Payoneer was removed because I don’t want my money to be stuck at the end of the day.
Thank you for your comment, Anthony. Unfortunately, Payoneer recently implemented new screening and compliance processes with its partners which are not feasible for the Guru.com platform. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and other Freelancers.

In almost all of your replies you are posting a copy and paste comment we are sorry, payoneer not available try US bank. How can you not understand a mjor workforce working at Guru is overseas and NOT in US for them to be able to open and operate a US bank account. IF you know a way to open a US bank account from outside the US then do tell me about that please so I can open since that is what you are advising everyone in your replies. It is also common sense that a freelancer who is operating from within the US would certainly have a bank account there so they would not be effected by this decision only the freelancer situated outside of US were using the Payoneer service.

Very Strange and bad decision we got from guruu. In Pakistan and in other countries max freelancers use Payoneer but Guruu wants to give his business to Upwork and Fiverr, If Upwork has no problem yet with Payoneer why Guruu has? It means its a signal that we should move other freelance platforms just for one reason, bad payment method options.

Really? One year is going to end when you stop taking the payoneer details. Is this real business?
Hello Bilal: We’ve recently added an excellent fund withdrawal option for freelancers who previously used Payoneer. $1 withdrawal fee. Guaranteed spot rate.
