Programming & Development Database Design & Administration

The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and implementing existing and new database systems to assure quality and efficiency of the systems meet the requirements of the company.

The Database Administrator is responsible for providing a highly functional and effective database infrastructure. Working with the team to document system requirements and implement defined architectural design. Follow all department policies and procedures to provide a consistent method of system maintenance and assure system performance. 

Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of assigned database architecture. May lead small independent projects.






JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:




1. Develop, document assigned database implementation, enhancement, and operational policy guidelines.

2. Implement, and normalize database systems.

3. Define, create, organize, maintain logical, physical, and production databases.

4. Execute test data and test program performance necessary to assure program/system performance according to design specifications and end user requirements

5. Maintain system end user documentation necessary to ensure effective end user operations and IT support

6. Maintain database backup/recovery standards and disaster recovery plans and processes

7. Maintain, review, and update database security standards

8. Analyze database application security settings and recommend changes to improve security configurations

9. Assign user access levels as authorized.

10. Initiate support activities including problem analysis, technical evaluation, work estimates, and implementation services.

11. Participate in support activities with all applicable constituents including customers, IT staff, vendors/third parties, and business managers






JOB REQUIREMENTS:



1. Bachelor’s degree in MIS or Computer Science, or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required

2. Minimum of five (2+) years SQL Server database administration experience including troubleshooting and performance tuning required

3. Minimum of three (2+) years’ experience in a production support role required

4. Extensive understanding of administering Microsoft SQL Server, Transact-SQL (ANSI-SQL) and Integration Services (SSIS) is required.

5. Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving.

6. Advanced SQL relational database experience (Microsoft SQL Server preferred)

7. Technical proficiency in the development and implementation of medium complex database systems

8. Advanced report development using tools such as Reporting Services, MicroStrategy or Tableau

9. Advanced data transformation skills using SSIS SQL Server Integration Services

10. Advanced scripting languages such as PowerShell.
