Programming & Development Programming & Software

The core priorities are to enable the creation of maritime routes & schedules for both shippers and carriers, the former needing only to input high level details and the later needing to go deeper in the parameters.

The system will suggest most parameters such as distance between ports, amount of fuel burned, cost in a given port.

The platform will have a shared repository of common (public) routes & schedules, that users can benchmark and rate; and then will also allow a user to create / copy / edit routes & schedules that can be accessed only within their company.

For a POC:

  • In an environment accessible on-line, with admin credentials.
  • User can create a basic schedule by entering/selecting key parameters (give a name, set overall speed, choose a series of ports, choose a vessel/size of vessel, set time spend in ports overall). Push the creation of a table with all information per port to port.
  • User can modify all elements within the table, and the remaining auto-re-calculate (if user change port, the distance from previous port and the one to next port changes, thus the time between ports changes too).
  • A map will display the routes (from port to port), user can double click and navigate through, ports should have an icon (a gantry crane?). A given Schedule doing Port (A)-(B)-(C) always loop back to (A), the route should reflect the same.
  • A summary table is also created, that recaps "transit time" between the departure time of port (A) to the arrival time in port (B).
  • User can save the Schedule created, go back to the landing page and access their folders within which the newly created Schedule has been saved.
  • User can clone a schedule to make changes to it.

The overall behaviour and use case can be described as looking to book multi-city tickets on an airline company.
