We are seeking a talented and passionate filmmaker/editor to create a compelling docuseries that captures the emotional and transformative journey of returning to Africa after 15 years abroad. This docuseries will chronicle a personal exploration of identity, grief, and healing as the protagonist retraces his steps in South Africa and the Congo. 


The story follows:

  • Discovering his late father’s life and burial site in South Africa.
  • Erecting a burial stone to honor his memory.
  • The profound healing and reflection experienced during this journey.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and organize existing raw footage captured during the journey.
  • Develop a narrative structure for a multi-episode docuseries.
  • Edit and enhance video content with high-quality transitions, graphics, and sound design.
  • Incorporate voiceovers, interviews, and reflective storytelling elements to bring emotional depth.
  • Collaborate with the client to ensure the story remains authentic and impactful.
  • Deliver a polished final product ready for distribution on digital platforms.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in documentary filmmaking or video production (portfolio required).
  • Strong storytelling and narrative development skills.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Knowledge of sound design and color grading techniques.
  • Ability to work with existing footage and adapt to the story’s tone.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working on personal, emotional, or biographical content is a plus.


Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with African cultures, landscapes, and history.
  • Ability to incorporate cultural elements authentically into the story.
  • Experience with social impact or healing-focused projects.
