Details about the Contribution: I played a critical role in the QNAP NAS Deadbolt ransomware recovery project. I initiated a thorough analysis of the ransomware's impact on the NAS system, identifying encrypted files and assessing the extent of the compromise. A meticulous recovery plan was devised, focusing on data restoration and the implementation of enhanced security protocols. Data recovery efforts involved leveraging backup systems, if available, to restore unaffected versions of the encrypted files. In cases where backups were not available or compromised, I utilized specialized tools and techniques to decrypt files affected by the Deadbolt ransomware. Simultaneously, I conducted a comprehensive security audit of the QNAP NAS, addressing vulnerabilities and strengthening security measures. This included updating firmware, implementing multi-layered authentication, and educating the client's team on best practices for avoiding ransomware and other cybersecurity threats.
