Network simulation of federal grade backbone network

    • Main objectives:

      Special purpose information system to perform network simulations of federal grade network backbone segments. 2-3 OSI levels numerical simulation with different network connectivity parameters, traffic loads, worm-like attacks with different lifecycles of network devices and links. Simulation of IPv4, IPv6 protocols, numerical investigation of the convergency of different routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS) including OTN and SDN networks.

      Targeted research scenario:

      Distributed simulation software with a set of simulation nodes, task management, parallel simultaneous execution, efficient storage, DPI, analytical and desktop visualization components.

      Main ideas and methods applied:

      Static network topology analysis (graph algorithms taking into account lifecycles), ns-3 discrete network simulator with DCE approach (virtual Linux core for each node), convergency analysis algorithm based on kernel routing tables.
