- A teenage girl was shot and killed while making a TikTok in Colorado, leading to three suspects - including two teenaged girls - being arrested.
Aaliyah Salazar, 14, of Monte Vista, was fatally shot in the head inside a home while she was making dance TikToks with her friends on August 7.
Two teenager girls and one of the girl's boyfriend Emiliano Vargas, 21, who legally owned the gun, have been arrested in connection the shooting. Authorities have not released the minors' names.
Vargas has been charged with permitting or providing a minor with a firearm. The two girls were charged with reckless manslaughter and possession of a handgun by juveniles, police said. The girls could face up to a maximum of six years.
One of the suspects allegedly told police that she saw the shooter pick up the gun and point it at Salazar and firing it, before tossing it on the bed inside of Vargas' 75 and 78-year-old grandparents Madelyn and Waldo Padilla's home - where he and his girlfriend, 17, lived.
'[Redacted] pick[ed] up the gun, pointed it at [Salazar] and shot [her]. I don't know if [redacted] knew the clip was in the gun, but right after [redacted] shot [redacted] threw the gun on the bed,' court documents said.
The girls told authorities the shooting 'could be [an] accident.'
The shooter, whose name has not been released, allegedly gained access to the gun through her boyfriend, who owned it legally and had been showing it off to the other girls while they were making TikToks.
Vargas allegedly kept the gun out in the open on a shelf and police said there were photos of the minors with the gun in May, according to the New York Post.
The affidavit states that a TikTok video that was recorded just moments before the shooting, shows Salazar dancing with another minor while another is seen 'fiddling with something on the bed' in the background.
The girls had been watching TV prior to the shooting and were making TikToks throughout the day when the girlfriend pulled the gun down from the shelf and showed it to the girls. the affidavit stated.
