My life has always been surrounded by books and research and whenever I wanted to find out something that I had questions about, I would ask my parents and when they didn't give me a satisfying answer I would go to the local library and start researching it on my own until I got my answer. At a young age, I was fascinated by how large the local library was; I constantly read and researched through all the books I could find and read, I also started to slowly but surely implement my writing around what I was researching. I find that there was only so much one can gather from these three combinations of writing, reading, and research. All topics are fascinating as so many things change from writer to writer or author to author. Its also interesting, how things change from how it is written on the internet to what is found in books, many times what I find on the internet clashes with what I find in books. So, I have to go through what I find on the internet with a fine tooth comb and separate the truth from lies. As we all know depending on the sites, these sites are not always reliable. The same thing happens with books, I find that I have to go through five books on the same topic; because a lot of times each book has different points of view and the information is different. In order to create a cohesive picture, you have to break the words apart and implement additional research. I have also had the pleasure of working and sitting with my young nieces and nephews to gather their thoughts on young books. Whenever I search for information about myths and legends I try to sift through the internet first to find out as many things that I can, before I start making headway on researching through the books. A lot of times I have to go through as many vintage and old books as I can find or order online before I can even tell how many of the myths and legends are even true. Researching the history of times past, I try to find personal journals or original books. Finding books is easy it's finding all the details and information is already researched for you but a lot of times the authors leave out all these little details that are necessary to get the bigger picture of what happened during those time periods. Tracking down journals of people that lived in those times are hard and a lot of times frustrating but the end value is worth it to go through what they wrote and their history in order to start finding the truth of that time period. Going through books on old, handmade buildings that famous artists helped create is a hobby for me. I love going through what I can find and get a sense of character for how they were in life, as well as how their art impacts the lives of people through time. Finding out the personal history and why the artist decided to create art is what I want to research. What made them decide that this is the career they wanted for the rest of their lives and why did they decide that being an artist is who they wanted to be.
