Women across America were left scrambling as abortion clinics hastily cancelled appointments after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling.
With the constitutional guarantee to a right to an abortion stripped away for the first time since 1973, a patchwork of wildly varying laws quickly fell into place from state to state.
Utah, South Dakota, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana were among the states that had so-called trigger bans in place in the event of Roe falling and abortion has already been outlawed. A ban in Texas will be enforced within 30 days as will that in Tennessee.
