I am a recent college graduate. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. While there I mainly took literature courses under professors that I felt would help me hone writing and editing skills that I could put to use after graduation. I also took multiple creative writing workshops that involved daily editing of student manuscripts, which really helped me develop an eye for detail. All the work paid off. In my last semester in school I earned the David Hallman Award for Excellence in the Study of Southern Literature, won a Madison Writing Award in textual analysis, and published an analytic essay on the Joel and Ethan Coen's Barton Fink.Write to be read! I feel that it is extremely important when writing to remember that others will read your work. Of course all writers should keep their intended audiences in mind when developing content, but thinking of the reader is also an important aspect of editing and proofreading. D
