- AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has hit out at rumours after a training incident
- He denied Felix Afena-Gyan was at fault for Georginio Wijnaldum's leg break
- The Dutchman, on loan from PSG, is set to miss several months of action
- Roma are preparing to face newly-promoted Cremonese later on Monday
- Jose Mourinho has hit out at people who started rumours Felix Afena-Gyan was responsible for Georginio Wijnaldum's broken leg in training.
AS Roma issued a statement confirming 31-year-old Wijnaldum had fractured a tibia on Sunday, while preparing for a Monday night fixture.
It comes just weeks after the Dutchman joined Roma on loan from PSG, and his new club have rallied around him, using the phrase 'Forza Gini!'.
The words also feature on a shirt held by Mourinho in his latest Instagram post, as the Portuguese manager lashed out at those who said 19-year-old Afena-Gyan was responsible for the training accident.
Sadly, in a very unfortunate accident he had a bad injury that will keep him away from playing for a long time.
'But it's not just football to be s**t sometimes, people can also be...
'Those who initiated the rumours that a top kid like Felix could be responsible for what happened are real scum.
'Let's all be together tonight: we play for @officialasroma, for @gwijnaldum and for @ohenegyanfelix9.'
Wijnaldum will undergo further assessments, and could be sidelined for several months as a result of the injury, putting his place in Holland's World Cup squad in huge doubt.
Ghana international Afena-Gyan officially renewed his contract at AS Roma until 2026, after making his professional debut for the club last October.
Roma play their first home game of the season against newly-promoted Cremonese on Monday night, after earning a 1-0 win at Salernitana last week.
