My experience as a videographer and video editor has come in many forms but the few that I hang onto are my experiences at Rafik Video and Mexican Summer Records. As a videographer at Mexican Summer Records, I filmed in-house recording sessions of bands and musicians for a promotional video series and edited documentary footage and conceptualized promotional trailers for authors and musicians. Collaboration with the creative team to film, edit and produce video series was essential to the process of producing this series to ensure that deadlines were met. To complete these projects I used professional a shoulder rig, on and off camera LED video lights and multiple external microphones (stand-alone, lavalier, on camera). At Rafik I was responsible for all post-production activities such as archiving and digitally capturing DigiBeta, Mini DV, VHS, super 8 mm, 16 mm, 8 mm, ¼” reels, vinyl, and tape cassettes. In addition, I encoded, converted, and compressed video and audio in various formats based on the client’s request. Working with clients, and staff to ensure the highest quality as an AV Technician meant that I also had to organize and catalog drives, prep footage, manage video projects from conception to the final edit. It was necessary that I handled multiple projects simultaneously, constantly meeting client deadlines through all stages. Other duties include performing maintenance on the Telecine systems used for transferring film, maintaining an expert working knowledge of cutting-edge design applications, software systems, and visual strategies, and having an expert understanding of Canon DSLRs (5D, 6D, 7D), and some knowledge of Nikon DSLRs. The experience that I have gained over the years as a video technician, videographer and video editor as allowed me to excel in my practice in the field of art and also in the professional setting when I work for clients. I work strategically and efficiently ensuring the work is done correctly in a methodological manner. And as apart of this field of work I continue to stay up to date with the latest software and technology, so being informed with the latest trends with Adobe and video equipment is something I take pleasure in.
