Turkey's rescue agency says at least 76 people have been confirmed dead in seven Turkish provinces. According to the authority, at least 440 people have been injured.

In Syria, state media reports at least 111 deaths in government-controlled parts of the country. At least 20 people are said to have died in the rebel-held region of northwestern Syria.

USGS estimate: Up to 1,000 may have died
