Canberra Airport, Australia, was evacuated, and flights were grounded, after a gunman fired shots near the security area designated for travel preparation procedures. The Australian ABC news agency reported that the police had arrested the gunman, and said he had been stripped of a weapon he had in his possession. Police said that CCTV images showed that the detained person was believed to be the only one responsible for the incident. There were no reports of injuries. The airport is still closed, and about five planes are still on the runway, as the Federal Police continues to comb the airport and obtain information from eyewitnesses.
