President Joe Biden launched new slogans, promoting what he described as the resurgence of industrialization in the United States, which is expected to be the focus of his campaign to run again for the presidency while warning Republicans against any attempt to harm the economy. "I was determined to bring industries back to this country again, and to build American manufacturing capacity," Biden said, yesterday, at the "Wolfspeed" plant in Durham, North Carolina, which is dedicated to semiconductors and recently announced an expansion worth five billion dollars.
Since taking office in 2021, Biden has been at the center of Biden's priorities in strengthening the capabilities of the United States in the production of small, high-tech components that go into manufacturing most modern devices.
Biden's visit to this factory opened what the White House described as a three-week "invest in America" tour, which includes visits by senior officials to about 20 states to promote jobs added by semiconductor plants and others that have been boosted by massive government incentives.
According to the White House, more than $435 billion in new investment has been announced under Biden, about half of it in clean energy companies and electric cars, and the other half in semiconductors.
Biden, who has not yet announced his candidacy for a second term in 2024, has sent clear signals about that, "If we invest in America, we can change the country's future." Biden's bragging about the economy contrasts with Republican accusations that he is responsible for relentlessly high inflation.
