"...It sounds a lot like reggae alright, but when it echoes, loops and reverberates it takes on a life of it's own. Though Jamaican dub music might have began as a sub-genre of reggae, it has never quite remained there. As it began in the late 60's, many of the definitive records of this genre were crafted at the famed King Tubby's studio. Since then, it has long escaped the ''sub-genre'' trappings and has grown up under an international glare of fans and practitioners, subsequently incorporating genres like blues, hip hop, and even rock at times. UK bands such as The Clash, The Police and later UB40 have thrived under the influence of dub music, thanks to the notoriety of producers like Jah Shaka, Mikey Dread and Mad Professor. .."
