Bruce Buck is set to remain as the chairman of Chelsea as part of a new management structure being proposed by the Todd Boehly-led consortium.
While the £4.25 billion takeover is subject to government and Premier League approval, the US-based group is pressing ahead with plans to form a new leadership team.
Boehly intends to sit on the board, along with the Tory peer and Times columnist Daniel Finkelstein and the PR executive Barbara Charone. The latter two will occupy non-executive director roles.
But The Times understands that Jonathan Goldstein, who may have been considered as a replacement for Buck, will not be joining the board. Goldstein certainly has the expertise as a prominent businessman with close financia.
