Chinese BYD unveils its Ato3 electric ca

Chinese automaker Build Your Dreams (BYD) is preparing to unveil an electric vehicle (EV) for the Indian market in the October-December quarter, then the vehicle will be on display during the Delhi auto show in January 2023, according to a report.


And when it is launched, the EV, called the Atto 3, will be the company's latest offering in India, after the November 2021 multipurpose vehicle (MPV), called the e6.


The Atto 3 is also already sold in countries like Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, all of which follow the right-hand drive rule (left hand drive in India)


Here are some things to know about this electric car:

(1.) The Atto 3 is built on the E3 platform, and is approximately 4.5 meters long. In India, it will be assembled by semi-subtractive road or SKD road (in a typical SKD vehicle, either the gearbox is assembled into the chassis or the engine).


(2.) Just like the e6, the Atto 3 will be manufactured from BYD's plant in Sriperumbudur district of Tamil Nadu, near Chennai, the state capital.


(3.) Vehicle sales will start early next year, said Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, the company's senior vice president in India.


(4.) Gopalakrishnan also said that within a year of launch, the electric vehicle network will be expanded to include the country's top 25 cities.


(5.) According to the report, the starting price of the Atto 3 is expected to be around $30.
