Commanders DE Chase

$5/hr Starting at $25

  •  Young off the injury list will play vs. the 49ers

ASHBURN, Virginia Chase Young, a defensive end with the Washington Commanders, will take the field for the first time this year after suffering a right knee injury more than 13 months ago.

When the Commanders (7-6-1) take on San Francisco (10-4) on Saturday, Young will have a limited role. With three games left, Washington, which owns the eighth and final playoff place, needs to win this game.

Young's return to the starting lineup was announced by Washington coach Ron Rivera as "it's now."

In a game against Tampa Bay on November 14, 2016, Young suffered a right ACL tear as well as a ruptured patellar tendon. His recuperation took longer due to the tendon tear. In recent weeks, there have been occasions when the team and Young began the week with hope, only for it to turn out to be false.

They wanted to witness him confidently push off his leg so he could deal with blockers and double teams. But they frequently observed hesitancy. Young met with the surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, on Sunday. Andrews assured him that his knee was fine.

Washington was aware at that point that Young would almost certainly make his NFL debut against the 49ers. They only wanted to make it through the week.
