Justin Hanes is the communications director for the Eugene Marathon, where he focuses on strategic communication and enhanced media relations. At the Eugene Marathon, Hanes establishes relationships to promote brand awareness and opportunity for developing and local charities. In addition, he has increased spirit and entertainment group participation, crafted marketing materials for merchandise and directed promotional videos for digital marketing usage. As a resident assistant coordinator at the University of Oregon, Hanes supervises a team of 14 resident assistants and supports them in enforcing housing protocol, following emergency response procedures when needed and developing first-year students in an academic residence hall. Recently, Hanes was awarded “Top 10 Program” by the Pacific Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls for his social justice dilemmas presentation at the 2017 PACURH Regional Leadership Conference. Hanes focuses on student development for those with identity-based challenges. As a Pacific Northwest native, Hanes has a passion for running and traveling. Hanes hopes to work in the airline industry with an emphasis in crisis communications, brand development, social media and executive leadership.
