There have been many engineers who have turned the world around with their inventions and achievements, centuries long. Here is a cursory look at some of the top engineers who made a significant contribution in shaping the world as it stands today! Neil Armstrong, the man who first walked on the moon, needs no introduction. He happens to be an aerospace engineer and a man who built the very foundation for all the space expeditions that were later enhanced by the oncoming generations. A century and a half ago, there were no automobiles that enabled people to commute from one place to another, except for carriages. This was until Karl Benz, the German Engineer made the first ever modern car. He is responsible for the invention of internal combustion engine which was used in his car. Dolby sound systems, although rarely used today, are one of the inventions that really influenced the future inventions into sound. Ray Dolby, an American Engineer invented the Dolby sound system, a breakthrough phenomenon that refines sound and reduces noise. I have a short story to share. In 1985 we monks at Ranchi ashram proposed to computerize our Lessons Dispatch Operations in India. Some of us had the experience of working with computers before joining the ashram. And we were very confident of what we were proposing. We convinced our Board of Directors in India. They recommended strongly to Daya Ma.
