Congo: nearly 45% of the Niari cement plant works completed

The Minister of Industrial Development and Promotion of the Private Sector, Antoine Thomas Nicéphore Fylla Saint Eudes, who visited this site this weekend.  

The new cement plant of Tao-Tao in the department of Niari, is 45% completed. This project is the result of cooperation between the Congolese and Indian governments. It was signed on February 25, 2015, through the loan agreement with the Export-Import Bank of India. The second cement plant in Niari could be operational in 2024.

With an estimated production capacity of 600,000 tonnes, once operational, the Tao-Tao cement plant will increase national production after the closure of Cimaf in Hinda (Pointe-Noire) and Diamond Cement Congo in Mindouli (Pool). "This plant will integrate the three other operational currently in Congo, namely Dangote, Sonocc and Forspak. The other two, Cimaf and Mindouli being completed in stoppage, which reduces our ability to offer cement on the national and international market, "explained Minister Antoine Thomas Nicéphore Fylla Saint Eudes.
