I have never worked in an office that had the financial leeway to keep a regular copy editor on staff, and so whatever position I have held I have always by default become the go-to man for proofing, revising, and punching-up the copy of my colleagues (be it marketing materials, website or promotional copy, or even business correspondence). My proficiency with language is such that it is readily apparent to everyone I work with that I am able or exercise complete control over the written word and that no matter how good their own writing is, I can always make it that much better.
