I am thankful to have found Guru and that Ms. Towler accepted the job. In my particular case, time was truly of the essence. As such, I discovered Guru and hired Ms. Towler the same day.
We got off to a rocky start because of time. We literally had less than 2 weeks to get accustomed to our working and personality styles and to compose an appellant brief on a case that had over 3,000 documents submitted into discovery. I think it helped a great deal that I was familiar with my case, and I appreciate Ms. Towler for listening to me. She respected what I could bring to the case. At the same time, she was honest, forthcoming, and used sound judgment when it came to the final product(s). The defendant was truly banking on me being entirely pro se and did not hesitate at any opportunity to have my case thrown out. Having someone with legal prowess supporting me gave me hope that my case will be taken seriously by the appellate judges. It also let the defendant know that I am not going down without a serious fight.
When it came to the reply brief, we sailed smoothly; we were familiar with each other and understood the other’s personality. I will admit that I may have limited the process and hampered her creativity a bit because of my finances, but I am grateful that she worked within my financial constraints. She gave no less effort, and I could not be more appreciative and approving of the end product.
You will need someone who can see the bigger picture because you will be too invested in the case. Ms. Towler is knowledgeable, intelligent, and sharp...period.
