Creative, Content & Technical Writing

$50/hr Starting at $250

With a diverse educational, cultural and career background, I believe I have a very unique perspective that enriches my writing. An Egyptian citizen who has lived a good part of my life in the US, I hold a degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering from Cairo University and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. The first part of my career was spent in the tech industry, culminating in an internship at Google's worldwide headquarters during my MBA studies. Upon completing my MBA in 2009, I switched to the finance industry where I spent the last 15 years of my career.

Where does writing figure into all of this? Firstly, my writing skills have been the propellent of my career, providing me with an edge that has contributed to my success. Secondly, I have done the commercial writing for virtually all companies I have worked for. In addition, I am a published writer of a collection of short stories in Arabic. In the past, I maintained a blog where I shared random thoughts in English and Arabic (you can find the blog at https://amrrakha.blogspot.com/). Finally, my writing passion led to me to studying scriptwriting under one of Egypt's best scriptwriters. According to his evaluation, I definitely have the talent for scriptwriting. In short, writing is my calling, and I would like to heed the call.

Also, as a native English and Arabic speaker, I am able to do English-to-Arabic and Arabic-to-English translation. I spent 2 years working summers at one of Egypt's most prominent subtitling companies, where I was responsible for reviewing Arabic subtitles for American, British and Australian movies and series, correcting translations for context and cultural references.
