“To let the meaning choose the word, and not the other way around”, as Orwell says, is what makes good writing and I always strive to do just that. I have written many short stories, academic essays, and recently finished my first screenplay. Having studied literature in college, I know how to read and edit with scrupulous attention to detail. Stories are what I have been passionate about ever since I discovered cinema; at fourteen, to experience Linklater’s understated craft or the epic storytelling of Kurosawa or Sorkin’s lively dialogue was incredible. Films lifted me out of my small town in India and tossed me among stories all over the world. My bachelor of arts degree in English allowed me to not only see beyond the horizons of contemporary art but also to engage with literature in a much more committed manner, making me aware of the diligence that writing demands. I am currently pursuing my masters in English at Delhi University.
