Creativity is integral in our society. Everyone can find a sprinkle of creativity within themselves, but creativity alone will not create a compelling story. Within the realms of writing, there are important aspects of storytelling that cannot be ignored. Having a creative idea is one thing, executing it effectively is another. I offer my services as a creative writer with a professional touch. Above and beyond my writing and/or editing services, I also guide my clients through certain aspects and why they're essential to a gripping story. A few key components to any story, whether fiction or non-fiction, are discusses below. -Understand why and what you're writing. What is the 'ultimate goal' of your book? A writer must understand the reasons for writing and what they are trying to communicate to the world through their work. -You understand the why and what, but the next thing to consider is the who and how. A writer should identify their target audience and adapt their writing to suit that audience. This leads to the inevitable 'how', which bounces off from the audience. How a writer executes the story will depend on what style, length and pace is appropriate for their target market. -Planning a book needs to be deliberate and detailed. This part can sometimes be the hardest. Here is where a writer must map out how they're getting to the above-mentioned 'goal' of the book. -Characters are the foundation of any story. Who are they, and how do their actions (or lack thereof) define the direction of the story? Well-written characters are relatable, flawed and dynamic. A one-dimensional character leads to a predictable plot. -Developing a well-rounded plot is more than a few key events. The plot is the skeleton of the entire story, while subplots flesh it out. The plot is the tracks, while the story is the train - without the plot, the story goes nowhere. These points are only a handful of important writing elements. Bringing a book to life isn't as easy as putting a few words onto paper, but I aim to make clients feel as though it were. Your story deserves to be told.
