I have won awards from the North Carolina Press Association and the South Carolina Press Association. I am currently a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Book Critics Circle.I was the executive editor for the now-defunct Citizen weekly in Raleigh, N.C. I have also been a reporter, columnist, business editor, and features editor for The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C. I currently write a column for the Weekly Surge in Myrtle Beach.In 2008, I completed a master of fine arts degree in creative writing at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C.
