After high school graduation in 1958, I established myself with Burroughs Corp., Plymouth, MI, and was promoted quickly from a File Clerk to the Secretary of the Engineering Dept., where I began to hone my skills in administrative assistance. Through the following 15-20 years, while raising a family, I intermittently worked as a Secretary to several Supervisors, mainly in the field of Engineering. Upon becoming a single parent, and a move from Michigan to Colorado, I established myself with the El Paso County Clerk's office, where I worked at the front desk, filing legal documents, receiving payments such as child support, restitution payments, etc., as well as any clerical assistance to the Court Clerk and her Assistant. My duties also included filling in for the Judges' Secretaries due to their absence for anywhere from a week to a month duration. This was a temporary nine-month position obtained through a County program, after which time I transferred to a City position as Transcriptionist at the Colorado Springs Police Department. After a second marriage to a Military person and about five years in Germany, where I worked under the Civil Service Employment Department as an Administrative Assistant, upon returning to the States I made a transition into Advertising Sales. Throughout all of the above-mentioned jobs, most have required either partial or total public contact in one way or another, from cold calling to prospects in a business-to-business mode as well as following up with established Clients to ensure all their needs are being met. As to be expected, there were times when troubleshooting and de-escalation procedures were necessary in dealing with and maintaining Client confidence.
