I've created a number of fully customized data collection measures over the last 17 years in a variety of languages for client needs. Anything from harvesting stock market data in real time from one of the large backbones of the NYSE, NASDAQ and Forex systems, to something as seemingly insignificant as a custom-built email address scraper for an in-house intranet - I've built scrapers/data miners since back before it was hip. Before such things as Scrapebox existed, with just plain old regular expressions and a strong sense of what gets data collection busted/banned by the source.
