I help writers draft and revise book-length manuscripts of fiction and nonfiction, but I’m also open to working on shorter projects or in other genres—personal statements, website copy, podcast scripts, etc. 

My coaching work involves weekly (or regular) video meetings or phone calls to discuss your writing, weekly (or regular) feedback on your drafts, reading suggestions, and discussion or instruction about various aspects of writing craft.

My developmental editing work involves attention to overarching elements of the draft, such as character development, pacing, argument, plot, etc. I offer suggestions on what the draft is missing or what can be cut; how a chapter, or the book as a whole, could be structured, and I ask direct, specific questions to help you identify and untangle parts of your draft that are confusing or need to be re-articulated. You can hire me to do this kind of work on your manuscript as part of the coaching, or as a one-off project.

I also offer line editing, proofreading, and copyediting, which involve a closer attention to line-level issues in the draft, such as grammar, punctuation, word choice, and verb tense, as well as help identifying and correcting poor word choice, inefficient syntax, redundancies or inconsistencies in the text.
