I primarily do digital paintings. Portraits, real vehicles as well as sci-fi hardware. I design sci-fi vehicles and have a classic, or what people have called a 'retro' sensibility - i like things that look good and credible. Derek Meddings' work for Gerry Anderson continues to be a massive inspiration. I love design work done for films and have a love of classic Matte Paintings, with their unique 'impressionistic realism' style. (albert Whitlock and Peter Ellenshaw are inspirations). 

I studied Art 'O Level', but left school when I was 16 to pursue my passion to work in film production. As such I am largely self taught. That said I have been working on Animated Feature Films for over 30 years in studios across the world. I have had the good fortune to work with incredibly talented artists, 

Painting digitally on my tablet computer has been a real game changer for me. Although I do paint occasionally with acrylic, oil or even enamel paints, the options available in the digital realm are hard to compete with. Through my website and posting my work in online art forums I have garnered some interesting assignments including work for the Gerry Anderson Appreciation Society (Fanderson) and a series of illustrations for a Role Playing Game based on H.G. Wells 'The War of the Worlds'.

I draw and make practical models as well and grew up making 'Aitfix kits' which I still enjoy doing in my spare time. 

Working in Animation for over 3 decades and managing large groups to meet the creative goals in the time and budget available helped to give me a great perspective on the creative process. I am able to provide schedule and budgets and meet them with enough check-ins along the way to ensure the client gets exactly what they want. Each and very assignment is different, but communication is key. What do you like? What do you not like? The better the communication the more time there is to do the work.

I am available for one-off commissions such as portraits, landscapes of vehicles... anything really. And I am open to take on longer term projects too. I love to design vehicles.
