My PhD research is on link adaptive schemes for heterogeneous networks. Next generation wireless networks (4G LTE) promise to sustain the growing demand for higher data rates and better reliability. This growth is to be partly supported by better radio spectrum use and through relays for better coverage. My work analyzes algorithms which cellular mobiles can use to adapt their transmit power, spectrum usage and network connections so as to improve data rates or battery life and extensively uses simulation.
