The Texas Rangers made three moves on Monday morning leading into their three-game series with the Detroit Tigers.

  • The Rangers selected the contract of RHP Grant Anderson from Round Rock (AAA). Anderson has served as a reliever with the Express all season. The Rangers optioned LHP Cody Bradford optioned to Round Rock (AAA).
    • Because Anderson was not on the 40-man roster, the Rangers needed to make a move and designated RHP Ricky Vanasco for assignment.
  • Anderson, 25, will be seeking his Major League debut after having his contract selected from Round Rock (AAA) this morning. The right-hander, who will wear uniform number 65, has combined to go 2-0 with one save and a 3.54 ERA (11 ER/28.0 IP) over 15 appearances/one start between Round Rock and Frisco (AA) this season.

    Bradford, 25, has gone 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA (8 ER/10.0 IP) in 2 starts spanning a pair of stints with Texas this season (May 15, May 27-28), including a 5.0-inning outing in yesterday’s 3-2 defeat at Baltimore (ND, 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R-ER, 1 BB, 5 SO). He is 6-1 with a 0.99 ERA (5 ER/45.1 IP) and 42 strikeouts/14 walks over 8 starts with Round Rock in 2023.

Vanasco, 24, owns no record and a 23.14 ERA (6 ER/2.1 IP) in 2 appearances/starts at Frisco this season. He opened the campaign on the RoughRiders’ Injured List while recovering from surgery on a torn meniscus, but was activated on May 20. The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Vanasco to the minor leagues.

  • Following Monday’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with four players (Spencer Howard, Brett Martin, Jake Odorizzi, and Glenn Otto) on the 60-day Injured List.
