I am genuinely interested in becoming a freelance editor and proofreader in this website because the job gives me the opportunity to read different text genres and various kinds of books: fiction and non-fiction. And it enables me to offer my editing services to others. It allows me to set my own hours of work, learn new things and keep my skills sharp. As an editor, I will tackle the style and format of a piece of work. be working to transform a written work into the best possible version of itself; I will mainly look at the mechanics of the text, checking grammar, fixing sentence structure, and reviewing word choice. My work will vary from checking grammar and punctuation to adding punctuation to the entire piece and to achieve the required accuracy. Moreover, I will ensure that the piece of work is thoroughly checked: page number, index, table of contents, bibliography, facts, references and other elements. My job is not to assess an author’s work. It is rather to help him or her create the best piece of writing possible. Authors work hard to produce a masterpiece. In any editing project, I will follow four main steps. First, I will read the sent text several times. Then, I will edit content and assess the text structure. After that, I will fix the spelling, punctuation and grammar. Next, I can help rewrite and restructure some parts. Finally, I will make sure text is clear and simple so a wide audience can comprehend the story. Indeed, I certainly believe that I have the strong writing skills of a freelancer. I am absolutely proficient in style, grammar, punctuation and research. When editing or proofreading, I pay attention to the tiniest details. After scanning a text, I can spot the different types of mistakes made immediately. In addition, I have an excellent grasp of the English language, style, word choice, as well as the mechanics of good fiction and non-fiction writing. I can also revise, edit and proofread different types of writing: articles, reports, biographies, letters, blogs, emails, books, research papers... I am also able to translate texts from Arabic to English as well as English to Arabic. I am able to meet the deadlines of the proposed project. Regarding the computer technology, I can use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint. I have the qualities of a good editor: hard work, motivation, punctuality, commitment, organisation, reliability, patience, knowledge, flexibility and consistency.
