I am a part time literature student, part time remote freelancer working with editing, proofreading and translating. I am fluent in English and have a certificate in advanced english C2 (CAE) administered by Cambridge University.
I have a lot of experience writing essays and fictional pieces through my degrees and would love to engage in others writing and improve their standards.
I have a lot of time on my hands and is willing to take on shorter and longer jobs (I have previously done everything inbetween 500 word blogposts to 40 000 word academic projects), as well as keep a regular communication to make sure the customer and I are on the same page.
I am also very flexible, great at managing my time and gets motivated by deadlines.
In regards to proofreading, if you are like me and enjoy going into the specifics, below are some of the errors I tend to look out for and correct:
- Spelling and grammatical errors: typos, homophones (ex. there/they're/their), misuse of definite and indefinite articles (the/a/an), misuse of prepositions.
- Misplaced punctuation: missing or misused commas, incorrect use of apostrophes/hyphens/em and en dashes
- Style inconsistency: inconsistent capitalization, treatment of numbers, switching between UK and US conventions.
- Formatting issues: quotations and ciation errors, inconsistent paragraph spacing, missing/misplaced page numbers, headers and footers.
