I have written and copy edited for a number of newspapers in the United States, as well doing a lot of freelance writing online and for the academic press. One unique thing about me is my extensive research library, which I have gathered over years of being a graduate student, part-time book seller, and full-time bibliophile. My work combines the best of journalism and scholarship. I have been a writer and teacher for many years. Both fields require one to gather, distill, and disseminate information in ways that are understandable and memorable. Teaching in the humanities and working in a newsroom also both provide ample opportunity to help students and colleagues polish their writing by proofreading and editing, which I enjoy doing.
