I am writing this cover letter in hopes of working with your company. I am looking for work in editing and proofreading. Please allow me to tell you a little about myself and my qualifications. I worked for eighteen years as a classroom English teacher. Due to health problems, I recently took early retirement; however, I do miss many of the things I did in the classroom such as helping students with their writing. I consider myself an expert at grammar and punctuation. I still have former students who will ask me to edit papers for them (which I gladly do). I am well-read and employ a wide vocabulary. If I am unfamiliar with a term or subject, I research until I learn about it. I am quite reliable and do my work quickly. I can successfully edit an essay in a short time. I also provide feedback on editing decisions when necessary. I have no problem taking on a large volume of work, and I will return that to clients promptly. I believe working with your company will be mutually beneficial, and I appreciate any consideration you will give to my application.
