Writing & Translation

Editor, writer, instructional design

$35/hr Starting at $25

I plug into new teams easily because I am ready and willing to learn new technology and am ready to adapt to new processes. I keep track of time zones around the world and have my work ready for the morning hand-off. I write training and course content on a wide range of topics from business skills to government, legislation and public administration to education, technology and more. I train groups on course development and the use of technology tools to enhance instruction and engage learners. Writing for professionals is an art because critical readers want material to get to the point but they also want it to have an intriguing, engaging style at the same time. Training for professionals must be on their terms: show them a vision first of why they should learn the course content; give them enough challenging information so that they can grow but not be overwhelmed; intersperse content with activities to practice; be sure to include feedback throughout so they know they are making progress. That plan sounds logical but it takes brainstorming, modeling, planning, drafts and revisions to get it right. I have been involved at every step of the process and believe a quality product is worth the investment. Clients have included consultants and nonprofits in the US and Europe; educational institutions; businesses in the energy and technology sectors, as well as several education publishers. I am happy to discuss the projects and the skills I gained on each.
