Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Director Kevli Horu announced on Friday in remarks to Al Arabiya that the third filling will be next August and September, noting that Egypt and Sudan may be affected by the filling of the dam.

In his statements, which were reported by Al Arabiya TV, the Ethiopian official enslaved the suspension of the third filling process, considering it an automatic process.

The dam is impregnable and any talk of its risks and possible collapse is incorrect, he said, adding that Ethiopia had shared information about the dam with Egypt and Sudan.

He pointed out that the statements of Egypt and Sudan on the seriousness and effects of the dam do not concern Ethiopia, explaining that his country did not exceed what was agreed in 2015 regarding filling operations.

Arab Parliament Condemns Ethiopia's Announcement of Unilateral Launch of Renaissance Dam

Cairo has reiterated that Ethiopia's Renaissance Dam on the Nile is linked to an "existential issue" for Egypt and its people, while efforts have so far have not resulted in an agreement on the dam, which worries downstream countries for their water quotas.

Last February, Ethiopia began producing electricity from the dam, which cost billions of dollars to build.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry accused Ethiopia of a new violation of the initial agreement signed between the three countries in 2015, which prohibits unilateral measures in the use of river water.
