I have used spreadsheets for over 30 years and I am often recognized as the organization’s Excel guru. I have learned in those 30 years that building successful spreadsheets requires more than knowledge of Excel. Building meaningful, vibrant Excel tools also requires knowledge and experience in data analysis (statistics) and data visualizations (what visual will have the most impact in this dashboard). In addition, in this age of data connectivity and user platforms, it is important to understand and the flow and sharing of information and spreadsheet models within the organization. Successfully integrating these skills with advanced Excel skills are critical to meet client expectations. In those 30 years I have developed a “database” approach to using spreadsheets. This approach has become a guiding principle in my spreadsheet design and development and fully utilizes the spreadsheet’s highly flexible and efficient ability with the three components of database analysis modelling: data inputs, criteria, and outputs. With my database approach and knowledge in these other skills, I am frequently identified and sought out as the organization’s Excel guru. Beyond just being the local Excel “help desk”, my experience and skill set allows me to assist others with building meaningful spreadsheet models and expanding their capabilities with advanced analytics and visualizations. I have often been assigned to “difficult” analytic projects specifically because of my expertise in efficiently producing insightful, creative data analyses and visualizations with complex and very large datasets. A number of models I have designed and built within these organizations have reduced days of work into hours of works. These models employ input interfaces that are very simple to use. I work to make the build process easy and efficient. We'll spend a short time together where I will listen to your needs and we'll discuss the appropriate
