I have over 20 years experience designing and developing tactical tools and robust solutions in Excel/VBA in the banking and financial industry, often interfacing with external API's, databases (Sybase, SQL-Server), data feeds (Bloomberg, Reuters, in-house feeds). Examples include a real-time order management and execution system transforming traders’ Excel spreadsheets into powerful trading workstations. The system handled multiple product types (equity, FX, derivatives) in any combination within a basket, and routed orders to multiple pools of liquidity using various protocols, including FIX and PATS. Messages to and from the exchanges (eg. order fills or cancels) were logged and handled reliably, as missing a message would have had serious consequences.
