I have been working as a software engineer for over 20 years with most of my recent projects involving first undertaking the planning of the project with key stake-holders before moving onto development. I enjoy building dialogues with stakeholders, discussing requirements, planning routes for progress and devising optimal solutions. Then presenting best-practice solutions with project milestones back to the stakeholders. My broad experience of various organisations, programming languages, protocols, middleware and operating systems allows me to efficiently provide optimal solutions. I am familiar with delivering documents such as user guides, cost estimates, technical manuals, implementation plans, functional requirements, data models, risk reports or just well documented code. I am also adept at coding data processing solutions, communication protocols, efficiently processing large volumes of data, API’s, web applications, single board computers, mobile applications and business applications in a wide variety of languages and environments. I have worked with systems requiring highly available services, high data integrity and high levels of data security. I can manage my own time effectively, prioritising tasks with multiple priorities to meet targets within agreed constraints. I can devise my own workflows, or work within those defined by others. I remain keen to learn new technologies. I also adapt well to local procedures and standards, working equally well in teams or individually, both in lead roles or under supervision. I have also managed small development teams.
