I am part of a niche data science community where all members (scholars) are pre-screened extensively for technical and communication skills. Each applicant to the community (scholar) is personally interviewed to validate excellent communication skills. We also conduct technical aptitude tests before allowing access to our platform. Our pre-screened scholars have technical backgrounds and deep knowledge of Excel VBA, SAS, STATA, MATLAB, Python, R and more. Our scholars are genuinely interested in solving data analytics challenges. Only 5-10% of applicants pass our tests. Most of our scholars have used a variety of statistical tools, software and packages for a number of years in corporate and research settings. They have implemented algorithms in machine learning, neural networks, etc. and designed numerous statistical analyses.
